Only two months until the big second birthday for the boy! :-)

Happy Adik!

So another month has passed, and in two short months, the boy will turn two. It is just amazing how quickly time has flown and how busy (and exhausted) we always seem to be! Where does the time go? As always, we are thankful for backdated entries.

Alphabets are still big with Adik. He knows all his letters still of course, and is very happy to yell them out when he sees them, sing his songs and whatnot. But he doesn't seem to be quite as obsessed - meaning he doesn't play his alphabet songs all day long, just half of the day. He still loves to come into the office to sit in the piles of books that he has repeatedly pulled off the shelves such that Vin and I have given up putting them back on until he grows out of this phase. He loves to sit in the piles, open books, read letters, talk to himself, bring books to me and Vin, walk on top of the books. Imagine Scrooge McDuck swimming in money in his vault, and you've got Adik with the books in the office.

He loves to talk - when last month we thought that his vocabulary was large, we are continually being amazed by the words that he knows (and uses correctly). Sometimes we have to listen carefully to try to figure out what exactly he is talking about, but he is usually correct. We just need to understand his baby-pronounciations. He is definitely putting words together to form basic sentences - e.g., "eat noo(dles)", "drink juice", etc. He can accurately count to about twelve and sometimes he sits in the office and counts books and toys. He is definitely fun to be around.

(Un)Fortunately, Adik has become quite confident in his movements. My little monkey-boy just wants to try climbing everything. He can climb into Vin's swivel chair in the office now! So he has to be watched at all times! He tries to climb on the coffee table, on his little red table, the piano bench. Everything! And once he is on it, he wants to stand up and show us how well he's done! Instead of getting the applause that he believes he richly deserves, though, he gets yelled at and asked to sit down or is plucked off his precarious perch before he can hurt himself.

Our bedtime rituals have changed a little. Adik no longer says good night and love you in the same order as last month (yay! I am no longer last!). The order no longer seems to matter. But we do still have hugs and kisses, good nights and love yous at bedtime with both children. It's something I definitely look forward to! Not to mention the peace and quiet we get after they have gone to sleep. Teehee!

Food-wise, Adik seems to have continued the trend from last month about not eating very much and drooling a lot. Still teething I suppose. It's difficult though - he seems to want to only eat bread or bread products, and sometimes not even that. Sometimes he will just eat peanut butter straight up and not try to eat much else. He's not been wanting to eat bananas or grapes. If we try to feed him something he doesn't want to eat, he just goes "Aaa", opens his mouth and lets the food drop out. You can't make the boy eat something he doesn't want to eat. And only sometimes will he eat noodles, etc. He does however, have a sweet tooth and quite enjoyed the Halloween candy! Hopefully we will get back to a more healthy and balanced eating soon. He grazes all day and drinks a lot of Pediasure. So I suppose it works out in the end.

Sleep status: same as last month. Adik goes to bed in the crib, and halfway through the night when he gets up and cries, I bring him onto our bed and he goes right back to sleep. I don't even have to pet him or rock him or cuddle him usually. I just need to lie him down in his spot between Vin and me and he just settles in for the rest of the night. It has definitely contributed to my well-being, and I'm able to function more normally during the day.

Let us move on to the pictures of how Adik spent his 22-month birthday. We had just gotten home from a work trip so we were all pretty exhausted still. Adik's day was quiet and not overly exciting so after we're done with the recap, I chose a few photos from the rest of the month that I liked, to supplement this entry. Yes. I cheated. :-) Here's the boy's day:

Reading together during "circle time"
I love circle time!

Then some lounging on the sofa with "the big thing" (iPad):

What am I watching?
Tap tap tap
Singing along
Hmm, ready for a nap?
Nope, more singing

After an outfit change, Adik drinks some juice (Pediasure):

Yummy!
Looking adorable on the sofa

More of the same for much of the day. Relaxing. Napping. And then chasing poor Lily around and cornering her:

Yee yee! Out!
Yee yee and Adik say cheeeeese!
But Yee yee still doesn't come out

Eventually Lily runs away (she can still outrun and outjump him of course), so Adik has to find different entertainment.

Trying to get into the wipes box
Back at "circle time"

At dinner time, he refuses to eat his own dinner and steals Yaya's bread-toast:

Eat! Toast!
Pretending to nap on the pillow

And then it was bath- and bedtime for the boy and his sister (and their parents). However, unlike the usual Adik entries, I wanted to also share a few cool pictures that was taken during the month, including during our work trip to Pennsylvania.

Don't bang heads, cute children!
At a rest stop on the way to PA
Adik naps on Lorna (like for real!)
Melissa gets a turn with Adik
Coloring a goldfish cracker?
Watching the big thing together on the sofa in the hotel room
Chummy time with his sister
Surprise!!! Baby behind the curtain!
Love this shot of the kids on the piano bench
Jamming on his "guitar" while I play the piano

That is all folks! Happy 22 month birthday, baby boy! We love you! :-)

Cheeeeeeese! Doesn't he just look like his Pak Yope as a baby here?
