Before Aidilfitri, I went down to The Gardens, a mall in the Mid Valley arcology. There I bought a Copic Ciao brush pen. When I first found it, I asked it, "Where have you been all my life?"
What can I do with a brush pen? Here's what, as illustrated with a quick sketch of Ms. Marvel and the Hulk beating the crap out of each other.

Comics, Role Playing Games, Star Wars
Earlier this month, we went back to my hometown of Sitiawan where I dug up my old stuff in my cupboard and wardrobe, then posted them on Google+. Here is a compilation of the posts, along with further elaboration, as well as a new photo near the end.
Ancient cache of geekery unearthed at my parents' house included a single Bill Mantlo / Gil Kane's Micronauts comic. I'm sure there was another where the 'Nauts battled a gentleman by the name of Professor Prometheus - at least on the cover. I don't remember much of what's inside.
I found a pair of old Dazzler comics - featuring the mutant disco performer who transduced sound to light - still readable with their pages still intact. Several years later, she would be a member of the X-Men.
I bought the West End Games' Star Wars RPG module titled Crisis on Cloud City, and they had a set of sabacc cards with rules. Cropping cardboard into equal sizes is harder than it looks, even with a metalwork guillotine.
At the back of an old receipt are illustrations and game stats for a Star Wars light freighter named Nasty Nervosa. I didn't name it, the players did. Don't ask me why.
Remember the old Star Wars sunday strips. I believe I culled these from the New Straits Times. Every week there was a panel that featured a character, vehicle or technology drawn by Al Williamson. I tried to collect them all. A futile effort, really.

You know what I miss about Superman? Him being sometimes ridiculous and fun.
Here's a tribute to the fun and ridiculous Silver Age Superman with the best ending in the world ever. This might have occurred just after Luthor stole 40 cakes.

Power Pack is one of Sila's favourite comic books back in the day. When I thought about submitting art to the Cornered blog where artists reproduce corner art from comic books, I figured, "Why not Power Pack?" Here they are: Alex, Julie, Jack and Katie Power!

On Twitter, Calamity Jon Morris wanted to see more designs of alien Green Lantern Corpsmen, so I thought why not create another visually blind Lantern of the F-Sharp Bell Corps.
Like Rot Lop Fan, this original alien named Toku-Taka Togg of Space Sector 0073, has no sense of sight nor the concept of light and colours.

Last weekend, Irfan's aunt Cik Emma was involved with some communit activity with her friends at Pulau Pinang. They performed voluntary community service to the residents of Rumah Seri Cahaya, an orphanage at Batu Maung.
She asked if I could contribute some art for some bookmarks that she was going to give the children there. I used my ink pens and yellow marker to whip these up quickly:
Hope the orphans put them to good use. (Probably mulch by now, though.)

Smallville has ended its 10 year run making it the longest running series based on a comic book ever.
I'd like to say it was a great run through and through, but it did lose my attention somewhere during the fourth season due to Clark's teenaged lovey-dovey hijinks with Lana. I saw the odd episode here and there over the years, but I never had the urge to return to my regular viewings of it... until the 8th season.

A Thor movie. Can you believe it? Produced by Marvel themselves instead of licensing it out to another studio? Directed by Kenneth Branagh? I wish I could go back in time to tell 13-year-old, comic book fan Hisham how awesome the future will be in the movies. He would go nuts. In a good way.
Mostly.
So how does one adapt the tale of super-powerful Asgardians into a movie continuity that will also include Captain America, Hulk and Iron Man? It appears the answer to that is, "to totally embrace them as interdimensional space beings using supertechnology so advanced it appears as magic to humans". And boy does it totally embrace that fact, and its Silver Age Comics origins - with some Ultimate Marvel elements. Make no mistake, this is not a primer to Norse mythology. This is a story where superheroes are kicking ass and taking names.
VERILY, THERE BE SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT! A WARNING!

This is some incredulous Hulk, who is said to be gamma-irradiated.
Which sounds unhealthy.
This was a warm-up sketch using a new brush I recently got with ink. Something's still not right with how I wield the brush. I suppose more practice is needed.
Update (May 13, 2011): I've coloured Bruce:

Here's a quick sketch of Kurt, a former pupil of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, in his classic costume, and draped in shadows as usual. I believe the red in his costume is a manifestation of his subconscious desire to stand out among the shadows, even as a youngster mobs set out to burn him as a demon.

Streaky the Supercat was Supergirl's pet cat who was exposed to x-kryptonite and endowed Kryptonian powers. Together with Krypto, Beppo the Supermonkey, Comet the Superhorse and Proty, Chameleon Boy's pet, all the way from the 30th century - they form the Legion of Super-Pets! They fight crime back in the Silver Age of Comics!
DexStarr is the Red Lantern of space sector 2814 (our sector). He is also a cat with a lot of rage. He wears the Red Lantern ring on his tail as he looks for ways to unleash his anger (as well as some blood-soaked bodily fluids) at whatever comes his way.
Yay, kitty! ARGH!
Why hasn't there been a one-shot comic where a modern age Streaky fights DexStarr is beyond me.
Geoff Johns, are you listening?
Next up: Beppo the Supermonkey versus Gorilla Grodd and the Ultra-Humanite... (maybe... if I don't get distracted by shiny things... which I usually do.)

Yeah, I just wanted to post pictures of the live-action corpsmen on the blog, is all. Too bad there's no Mogo and Bzzd.

Who needs a proper bed when you can create one from your power ring?
Guy is currently assigned to the planet Oa in Space Sector 0. He also runs a bar and restaurant there where all the ringslingers hang out or go for a meal. He's also from Baltimore, so I wonder if he liked watching The Wire on TV.

Hal here is a test pilot for Ferris Aircraft. Somehow he has plenty of spare time from his day job to moonlight as an officer of the Green Lantern Corps, assigned to Space Sector 2814 with his partner John.
Here he is wearing his green power ring in flight looking not at all like Ryan Reynolds.

In the previous entry, we had Spider-Woman. In this entry, we have...another Spider-Woman.
Julia Carpenter was the second individual to take the Spider-Woman name. However she is currently known as Arachne of Canada's superpowered team Omega Flight.
