Random Banner Images

Now thanks to Pivot’s Rotator v1.0 extension, the weblog’s banner up at the top of the page randomly rotates through a bunch of images I made up just for the occasion. More images will be uploaded for quantity’s sake. Refresh the page, or just read the entries to see it in action.

New Blockquote CSS

I noticed that like the old comments style, the blockquote style for this website is just a bunch of indented paragraphs. So, to ensure the blockquotes are easily seen, I’ve added a bunch of lines to the css file, causing anything in blockquotes to resemble: Click here to watch the Robot Chicken representation of how Palpatine reacted to Vader after the first Death Star blew up. Hilarious. A quote from my recent post from this thread in the Holonet Forums.

Browse by Categories

After a long time I finally got around to reading up and writing a “Categories” block for the weblog. Now, you can check out the last 15 posts (or less, if the count is less than 15) what Sila and I have written in whichever categories it’s listed under. See? Over there. It’s in the left column, just under the “About” block. Second block from the top. See? Neat, eh? Oh, and I still haven’t gotten around to trying to fix the missing pajeri terong post. Stay tuned for more reports of my failure to restore the entry. Edit: Rejoice! For the Pajeri Terong entry is back on the weblog! Many thanks to hansfn and Bob from the Pivot Support Forum for their suggestions.

Holy Crap… I Broke Something!

Specifically, by altering some php code manually on the file, I seem to have caused Sila’s Pajeri Terong entry to disappear, or perhaps eaten by cacodemons at the very least. The PHP file is still there in the database directory, but somehow I can’t get it to be published on the weblog. Damage control is currently being carried out. Hopefully we get to see the pajeri again in the near future. God knows we need more images of pajeri (aubergines or pineapple) on the net.

New Comments CSS Code

I’ve jazzed up the blog’s CSS code for each journal entry’s comments. It’s now, um… well, comment to this post to discover how it looks like now (or you could just check out any other entries possessing any sort of comments). I hope it would not only look aesthetically pleasant, but differentiating individual comments would be much easier now. Comments for the comments in the form of kudos, critiques and exploding toilets would be most welcome. And by the way… if you’re seeing the comments like so: …then you’re not really seeing the “aesthetically pleasant” I was talking about. For example, the transparent background on the “Comment” png image isn’t transparent in the image above. What you really should be seeing on your browser screen is the following: See the difference? The curved border corner? Eh? Eh? In closing, get Firefox. 😛

Second Hishgraphics Book In The Works

[[image:hishbanner.gif:My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult – After The Flesh:center:0]]Many moons after the release of The Secret Library, I’ve now finished writing a 12 page children’s book, a much simpler one this time. It’s about a child that imagines camping out on his or her bed with a blanket. There will be rhyming. There will be animals. And the best part is the idea hit me after playing make-believe campout on the bed with a blanket. Still have to revise the text and proofread before I start illustrating and laying out the book. So…. anyone knows what rhymes with “sasquatch”?

Hishgraphics.com Joins A Webring

Not much sales happening at Hishgraphics Publications, so I’m currently trying out by using another internet marketing tool, a webring. More precisely, the eBooks 4 Kids webring. You can check out the link at the bottom of the index page of Hishgraphics.com, although our status with the webring is still pending. I’ll update this post when the ringmaster’s reviewed Hishgraphics and approved us. UPDATE (5 pm, Dec 6): We’ve been approved! Our link is in the Webring hub at the link above. [[image:hishbanner.gif:Hishgraphics.com:center:0]]Earlier today, I finally succeeded registering with eBay to see if I can sell other stuff there while passively marketing Hishgraphics Publications there… unfortunately to register as a Seller I need a credit card. Now I have to look into getting one, for the sole purpose of being an online merchant. Ugh.

Blog Glitch Fixed

The entire week was crazy as far as this blog was concerned. First I couldn’t log onto the backend admin section with my correct password. (Even Sila couldn’t do it with her user account.) And after 10 tries my own blog banned my IP. Brilliant, eh? I went to the Pivot Support Forums for help. Griswald there, told me to download the pv_cfg_settings.php file from the server, remove the 2 IP addresses in the php code and change the installed variable to “0”. That done, I had to register myself as the Superadmin first, then try to sort out the rest later. Later, it seemed that the database files of each blog entries weren’t being detected by the index.php file. The center column was empty. The Recent Entries block was empty. The Last Comments block was empty. What was wrong? Checking the admin section, I found out that the Categories […]

Future Player’s Companion: Tomorrow’s Hero

Apart from Future Player’s Companion: Tomorrow’s Hero, the second of three books released by The Game Mechanics, being released and on sale at RPGnow.com, I’ve also took my old gallery at Geocities, modified it, gave it a proper banner, updated some details and relocated it here at Hishgraphics.com. The Hishgraphics Gallery can be found at http://www.hishgraphics.com/gallery. In the meantime, here are three four of the artwork from Future Players’ Companion, Volume 2. Click on… to view them.

First Hishgraphics e-Book: The Secret Library

I wouldn’t have thought it possible a year ago, but here we are with our first e-book product on sale as of today. It’s a nice little tale with full colour illustrations throughout, where a young boy who just happens to have the same name as my son, discovers a wonderful library through a doorway in the cellar of his parents’ new house. I hope the public likes it well enough to purchase it. There is a black and white version in the Free Downloads page for a preview. If you know someone who might like it please spread the word. Thanks to everyone who helped me get the site up, especially my family, and all my friends who gave me moral support. In the meantime, I’ll be working on more new e-books.

Hishgraphics.com is Now Online

Good news, everyone. Well, I hope it’s good news to at least my 5 regular readers out there. (Okay, 4 regular readers I admit. Happy?) It would appear that hishgraphics.com, the website I’ve been working on is 90% finished. I’ve removed the “Under Construction” label on the index page. I still need to work on the copy on most of the pages here. CSS and some of the site design are still screwy to me, but it should be transparent to you. But most important of all, the first product, the e-book named The Secret Library is finished. You can check out the black and white free download of the book on the site. Check it all out at www.hishgraphics.com.

Hishgraphics Update

For a sneak peek of the project currently undergoing take a look at the pop-up image to the left, which is a hint to what our primary activity will be on the main website. Once I lock down the layout of the website design itself, it will be time to work on the content. Including the conceptualising, writing, drawing and pdfing of a whole bunch of e-books. In the meantime, more resarch on the industry (both online and offline) will also be needed on my part. More hard work ahead.

A New Location for the Blog!

So, here we are at the new server. To be precise, at https://www.hishgraphics.com/. Okay, now why did you just hit the link? You know you’ll end up right back on the blog’s index page. Now I have this webspace all to myself, what (you might ask) am I going to do with it? Watch this space for the news in the near future.

Hishgraphics: The Name

Why Hishgraphics? It’s a given that my name is Hisham and I do some (if not an unholy amount of) art in the last few years. Why not “Hisham Graphics”? Or “HishArt”? Or as was labeled on my old extinct e-mail marketing flyer, “Khairul Hisham Illustrations”? (Or my perennial favourite Exploding Toilets Sdn Bhd… don’t ask.) I chose “Hish” specifically because I’ve grown fond of what the guys over at the Holonet and SWAG usually call me, over instant messaging. (I have no idea how it will sound if someone verbally calls me that; no one has ever done so.) Graphics, because… because…. honestly I have no clue why I chose “graphics”. I’ve used “Hishgraphics” on two occasions in the past: the GeoCities site where my general artwork is on display, and this free hosting site at orgfree where you’re reading this article, and I’ve grown used to it that […]
