Xujof

Azamar Deities Part Two

More powerful beings – reality-changing and inter-dimensional – that has made their mark on the world of Azamar. Mo is the deity of laughter, change, and trickery, and manifests in the form of a jester with a dazzling outfit of ever-changing colours – though he rarely ever manifests. Nooks and Crannies are factions of a powerful type of beings from a world which was devastated by a war between the factions. They have travelled to Azamar using their magicks and set themselves as deities, sowing chaos and demanding sacrifices and tributes from their followers. The war between Nooks and Crannies have now come to Azamar. Xujof is a deity also known as the grim, a deity of death, life, and the delicate balance between them, often referred to as the equilibrium. Xujof normally manifests as an elderly Human, typically wearing contemporary apparel, mingling quietly within the various societies of Azamar.

Azamar Sea View

Azamar – A View of the Sea

Here’s a damage seagoing vessel – anchored off an Azamar coast – undergoing repairs at dawn. What happened to it? What was it carrying? Who or what shot at it? Were there survivors? What repercussions would there be for characters that relied on this ship for transport or defence? What bearing did this event have on the legacy of the Fracturing in Azamar? Give the Azamar fantasy roleplaying game a try when it’s released later this year, and create your own storylines with your friends as you run the game! This interior artwork was created for Wicked North Games with a black and white printing in mind. The colours are an afterthought for this blog.

Azamar Melee WIP04

Azamar – Melee Skirmish

Here’s a quarter page interior illustration for Wicked North Games of a Tre’uoall ranger versus an Orc warrior fighting on a hill slope and drawing blood… which should be in black and white in the final Azamar RPG core rule book. Additionally, I will also show you step-by-step how I made the dish above. First, heat some cooking in the pot. Add some chopped up onions into the oil and allow it to heat. Then add some chopped-up bell peppers cut into the pot. Chop up some eggplants and add them into the pot. Stir so the eggplants are covered with oil and make sure they do not burn up. When the eggplants have softened, add some chopped-up zucchini into the pot. Chop some garlic, tomatoes and minced thyme and add them to the pot. Stir evenly for 2 minutes. Reduce the heat and cover the pot. Allow it to […]

Azamar Out Shopping

Here’s a piece on shopping for fruits and vegetables at a marketplace in Azamar. Here’s a hint: don’t drop or jostle the Quepid root. Otherwise vegetables are good for you. Eat more vegetables. Click on the partial thumb on the right to view the full image! Azamar will be published by Wicked North Games in 2011. Click here for its current Kickstarter page.

Azamar Enfri Airship

Azamar Miscellanea

With the release of the Azamar RPG core rulebook so close, I was still assigned several more art orders for the interior of the book. As before, although they’re in colour here, the final product will have black and white interior pages. Here are a pair of magic users, using magical energies augmented by their artifacts to fight it out. The Enfri’s colossal cetacean-shaped dirigibles are a sight to behold. I hope there will be a sourcebook – or at least, an article in D6 Magazine –  that will flesh out this vehicle more. The Azamar RPG will be published by Wicked North Games in 2011. D6 Magazine - Abyssian Hunter

D6 Magazine Released

Remember the cover I did a couple of posts ago? After months of work, finally the debut issue of D6 Magazine has finally been released into the wild. Apart from the aforementioned cover, I also helped the writers produce three interior artwork for it. For the article “Crack of the Whip” by Michael Fraley, here’s a whip-wielding woman in old-timey flightsuit and helmet… but with a one cyborg leg! How many ways can one use a whip using D6 rules? Read the article to find out. I was commissioned by J. Elliot Streeter for his Cinema6 scenario “Asphyxia”, where a spaceborne predator stalks the corridors of a sleeper ship. The following is the beast which is named Abyssian Hunter. Here’s the unnamed sleeper ship with many cryogenic modules arrayed like stacks of containers. Will you, as the players, survive the scenario? Pickup a bunch of six-sided dice and have fun […]

Have You Punched A Dinosaur Today?

You don’t have to punch one, really. You could also fly to with a jet pack and slug its jaw with a hammer. Or perhaps you could stop punching dinosaurs and started hugging them. HAVE YOU HUGGED A DINOSAUR TODAY? Here’s the artwork for the cover of D6 Magazine, from the OpenD6 roleplaying community. I’ve played variations of the D6 system since 1989 and I can’t recommend it enough. The actual magazine should be released within this next week. Click here for a larger image.

Azamar Scenes of Battle

I also had to produce two full page action scenes for the Azamar RPG in black and white, which I actually painted with GIMP in grayscale. It was quite a learning experience. If you’ve read the previous Creatures of Azamar blog posts, you’ll notice a couple types of beasts in the second image that I have previously illustrated. Azamar RPG core rule book using the Cinema6 rules framework is published by Wicked North Games, and will be released in 2011.

Creatures of Azamar Part Six Already?

Here is the latest batch of images commissioned for Wicked North Games‘ Azamar fantasy RPG core rulebook. I have to say I can’t wait to see them all printed in the book. Perhaps I’ll get to run some adventures using it. These creatures are somewhat small, but are able to fly and attack with their lethal tongues. A Fiend Lord defeats a Tre’uoall Sword Chanter in battle. Poor dude. This Demon Fiend appear to have the legs for an extraordinary jump and is able to use magic. The lumbering, somewhat hirsute creature known in Azamar as a Troll. To check out the larger versions of the images, feel free to browse them at their DeviantArt gallery.

Azamar – Personal Combat Gear

When one goes adventuring in a high fantasy world such as Azamar, one needs to be prepared for encounters with horrific beasts, lethal environment and evil sorcerers! I mean, if you attempt to take a journey through the Olm Jungle with only a Ben 10 plastic tumbler of orange cordial and an iPod, I’m sure you’ll be shanked in the nads by Uumul before noon. Here are pictures of weapons and equipment you can choose to wear or arm yourself with. Click on the thumbnail for a better view on things. Commissioned by Wicked North Games for the Azamar RPG sourcebook. Click the pictures to view larger images.

Azamar – Location! Location! Location!

Other than creatures, I was also commissioned to produce geographical illustrations for the Azamar RPG sourcebook. Here are black and white digital illustrations for various locations in the world of Azamar. The book will be published by Wicked North Games in 2011. A view of a city skyline upon the picturesque continent of Abalos – the city of Orb, perhaps? The sun sets on the rolling grasslands of Grazen, a centre of commerce between the Wyvine and the Immyr. Ships pass by each other along the narrow Hoarfrost Strait between Olm and Evercrow. The longest road in Azamar upon the continent of Olm, the Old Highway is safeguarded and defended by Wyvine patrols. One of the Lookout Towers overlooking the waters of Wizard’s Bay, vigilant of threats from the sea.

Creatures of Azamar Part Five

Here are six new artwork of mystical and deadly beings of the Azamar fantasy roleplaying setting, commissioned by Wicked North Games. The kongamato is a small pterodactyl-like creature with a long, sharp tail with which it slashes its prey. The korac is a large underwater beast that swims up and devours its food with its large maw and sharp teeth. Also called a riding rat, the nauvowl is a giant rodent which can be ridden for transport or combat. A slane worm is a burrowing predator with a tough spines, a lethal horn on its head and a skin with some camouflage abilities. A spindler is a carnivorous plant which can crawl on the ground with its prehensile vine-like root system and paralyse its victim with neurotoxin-laden darts. Swinders are smaller, aquatic cousins of the slane worms, spines and all. Click here for larger images of the beasts.

Creatures of Azamar Part Four

Here are five new artwork of mystical and deadly beings of the Azamar fantasy roleplaying setting, commissioned by Wicked North Games. A Fiend which vomits its caustic stomach acid upon its prey and gobbles them up whole. Feline-like Fiends with four eyes and four arms. Revenants are actually magical balls of flame that can transform itself into fiery visage of an undead warrior. Saturians are extremely attractive human-like Fiends, until they unfold their maw to feed. Syetans are hideously ugly Fiends with three hoofed legs and very asymmetrical features on their faces.
