I Want To Play In This Campaign

PVP Online‘s latest comic regales us with a description of one of the greatest ideas for an RPG campaign. I believe I’d very much like to play Jesse Mach of Street Hawk in that campaign. Anyone else willing to be Stringfellow Hawke, B.J McKay, Sheriff Lobo and Colt Seavers travelling the country to thwart the evil plans of an evil Mr. Belvedere? We’d have the Street Hawk, Airwolf and Sheriff Lobo’s police cruiser positioned inside B.J. McKay’s 18-wheeler, ready to be deployed at a moment’s notice, like The Highwayman series. We’ll be fighting wave after wave of Melmackian troops led by Gordon “ALF” Shumway, under the direct command of Mr. Belvedere’s lieutenant Arnold of Diff’rent Strokes. “Whatchoo talkin’ about, ALF?” You know you want to play this.

Fighting Evil So You Wont Have To

The Middleman is the funniest show on TV right now… if you’re a geek like me.[[image:middlepics00.jpg:Watch it on ABC Family (only one more episode left… Monday night):right:0]] But I’ll get to that in a minute. Created by former scribe of Jake 2.0 and Lost, Javier Grillo-Marxuach, The Middleman reveals to us that there is one Middleman in existence in the world from a still-indisclosed point in time in the past. His job is to take care of extraordinary and highly bizzare problems, which usually involves incidents related to aliens, demons, mad scientists and mixes or variations thereof. The Middleman is also responsible for training an apprentice Middleman to take over one day because of the lethal occupational hazards. And they work for a secret agency so secret and so efficient (their equipment gets replenished and upgraded almost immediately from unknown sources) and nameless that the Middleman himself has to give […]

On The Topic Of Names

Because of Wil Wheaton’s post at his blog who wished that his name could be turned into a cool analog like Cherie Priest, I decided to check out anagrams of our own names on Wordsmith.com. So as not to get too short a word in the anagram like “a” or “an” and have too many results returned, I set the maximum number of words to be 2 and the minimum number of letter in each word to be 3. For my own name I entered “Khairul Hisham” because I get zero results from my full name and I entered Ain’s full name without the ” binti”. Apparently I am MAHARISHI HULK and Ain is NONHUMAN RITUAL. Cool beans. When the maximum number of words is increased to 3, I also get HIM RAKISH HULA (can one be dashing and stylish with a hula) and HUH SHARIA MILK (so, drink up) […]

Of Romance, Sarcasm, Math and Language

Once upon a time I mentioned about a comic strip in this entry. Since then I’ve found out (for quite some time now) that the webcomic in question is xkcd – a webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math and language. Usually the strip has only from one to four panels per comic. But once in a while they do epic storylines like the following one. [[image:xkcd-manwhofellsideways.gif:Strip originally conceived in conversation with Jeph Jacques. Soon to be a major motion picture.:center:0]] To learn what happens in the end, click here for the full strip. Here are a couple more favourites: The Words that End in GRY Tesla Coil Bass Network Ninja Turtles And the prophetic classic: Action Movies, which we finally got after a fashion in the form of this TV show which I wrote about earlier.

I’d Pay Good Money To See This TV Show

So anyway, to cut things short io9 pitched in jest the idea for Star Trek: Captain Wesley Crusher, Starfleet Investigative Services starring Wil Wheaton. Here’s an excerpt: Yes, the much maligned ensign should be brought back as the captain of a Starfleet science vessel that warps around the Alpha Quadrant solving mysteries for the Federation. Think of it as CSI . . . in space! Wil says, “Thanks, but I think I’ll pass.” Which is the title of his blog post. But then, I got to thinking. CSI… in space! Well, thinking led to another thing and, voila… [[image:wesley_sis.jpg:Do a google search on Wheaton + clown + sweater.:center:0]] It wasn’t easy coming up with the script. It took me almost 6 hours to come up with something I was moderately satisfied with.

Festivities And Then Some

Tomorrow is the last day of the month of Ramadhan. Tomorrow we head back to Sitiawan for Aidilfitri. We will try to beat the crazy traffic (an evil, sentient gestalt entity which appears every holiday season) by leaving Kuala Lumpur at 0200 hours. Also, this year is the first time Irfan happily chants, “Yay! Yay! Balik Raya!” which after a full Ramadhan of solid exhausting work, brings a smile to my face and takes my enthusiasm for the festive season up a notch or so. I still have a bunch of stuff to do before the end of the year which is weighing down on me like cinder blocks on my shoulders. Which just translates to… I’ll be back Tuesday night. I’ll also try to take and upload some Aidilfitri photos in the meantime. SELAMAT HARI RAYA AIDILFITRI TO ALL Yes, and even to Cindy O. Bear in the back […]

Football Season has begun (American Football)

Oh dear, oh dear. What shall I do? We are at the point in the year where the NFL season (first official game was last night, Saints @ Colts) overlaps with the MLB season. Cubs and the Bears both will be playing! Vin is very happy! Me?? Sports overload! Help!!! Tolong!! Ayuda me!! [[image:47.jpg:The beginning of football season:center:0]] [[image:48.jpg:Sila takes a big hit! 2 sports to watch at once!:center:0]] *pictures taken in LA at Universal Studios last year

Motivational Posters, But….

You’ve seen those motivational posters? The black bordered ones with the inspiring and or beautiful picture of nature, or a cute child or a kitten. Below the image is usually a word or a phrase of the facet of humanity requiring the motivation. Below that line, in smaller type, is a line of blissful and inspiring words as chicken soup for the soul… Anyway, a bunch of nice people over at RPG.Net has come up with a thread in their forums to create more and more of these spirit-uplifting posters. And a kind person has collected these posters and put it in a gallery at his website which you can check out here (dead link). Feel free to browse, absorb and digest some of the fantastic wisdom which, hopefully, can help you when you face bad times in your life. Here are some choice posters for your preview: Beautiful, they […]

Away For The Weekend Again

We’ll be heading out to Ain’s parents this weekend to attend a wedding. Tok & Opah Irfan will also we joining us tomorrow there, then they’ll be heading back with us to Kuala Lumpur via the Gua Musang road, which they’ve never been before. Hope to show them some sights there on our way back. We’ll be back Monday, according to schedule. So here’s the last post from me in the month of March, a great blog entry I found on FraudWasteAbuse, “Why Men Are Never Published On Dear Abby”: Dear Abby, I’ve never written to you before, but I really need your advice on what could be a crucial decision. I’ve suspected for some time now that my wife has been cheating on me. The usual signs… Phone rings but if I answer, the caller hangs up. My wife has been going out with the girls a lot recently […]

Another Suitor For Lily

Young Tiger Lily Belle, who just meowed her way into Sila & Vin’s household, already has suitors apparently. You can get the details from Sila later, about the poet and the two-timer. I would like to suggest another candidate for Lily. A powerful sandcat. From Arrakis. The Shai-Hulud: From here.

Marvel’s Civil War in 30 Seconds

[[image:nextwave11.jpg:Warren Ellis you sly dog you….:left:0]]Civil War was announced as the Marvel Comics crossover event for 2006-2007. Written by Mark Millar and pencilled by Steve McNiven, whose art I admired since his Sentry story arc on the New Avengers and two issues of Ultimate Secret it was going to be a total revamp of how super-powered heroes will be regarded by the government and the general public in Marvel’s Earth-616. Superhero Registration Act and whatnot. I thought I wouldn’t read too much into it and get the book once it’s been collected into a trade paperback. However, issue #7 was released and it’s difficult not to hear the online rantings of almost everyone if you’re a comic book fan. Anyway if you’re not physically, psychologically or radiologically allergic to spoilers (SPOILERS! Once again in caps for your attention) check out this Civil War in 30 Seconds post from Chris’s Invincible […]
