I’ve released paper miniatures of Imperial stormtroopers before, but they were black and white line art. So I thought I’d create brand new non-monochrome Imperial troops. One group of troopers wield SE-4R blasters and the other E-11 blasters. Click here to view, download from Google Drive for free and assemble the minis to be used in your Star Wars RPG campaign! Or you could decorate your workstation with them. Just make sure the colours match.

Paper Minis: Imperial Pilots
And now, paper miniatures for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game with a bunch of armoured Imperial pilots: the TIE fighter pilot and the AT-AT driver. Their costume designs are amazing if you see photos of them up close. If you need some NPCs to fight with while in the hangar bay of an Imperial Star Destroyer or a garrison, you could use these guys. Alternatively, you could have your characters dress up as them for disguise, or even use them as legitimate player characters. like an old character in one of my campaigns named Jack Wasiwawix who was a former Imperial TIE fighter pilot who had defected and still had his uniform and gear with him. Hmmm. The TIE pilots here might be played by the Fonz though. Download here for printing and assembly from Google Drive.
Continue readingPaper Minis: X-Wing Pilots
If you’re playing any version of the Star Wars Roleplaying Game, perhaps you’d like some paper miniatures if your player characters or your non-player characters are X-wing fighter jocks. There are male and female pilots, wearing and not wearing helmets. The helmeted male pilots – if you study them closely – have their tongues sticking out just because. 😛 Download here from Google Drive for assembly!
Continue readingPaper Minis: Cloaked Dudes
A lot of folks wear cloaks and hoods in the Star Wars universe, from the Jedi to senators to even street spy Garindan. You shouldn’t have any lack of reasons to use these paper miniatures in the Star Wars Roleplaying Game as player or non-player characters. Click here to download the cloaked dudes who stay cloaked at Google Drive. In fact, you shouldn’t even have problems using these in a fantasy RPG like BareBones Fantasy, The One Ring, Runequest, Dungeon World, Pathfinder, 13th Age or this new game you might not have heard of before: Dungeons and Dragons.
Continue readingPaper Minis: Naboo Security Forces
Sure these are Battle of Naboo-era uniforms, but they look much more varied than Clone Wars-era NRSF uniforms. Just remember that after the Senate dissolution, Naboo and the Chommell Sector would be under the command of Moff Panaka who is still good friends with the Emperor. These would be legitimate Imperial-aligned adversaries for player characters during a Rebellion era campaign. ANYWAY, PAPER MINIS. Sorry but no paper minis of the Naboo Gian and Flash speeders. Yet. Click here to download them from Google Drive. Addendum: Oh hey, look! Entry 1313.

Modesty Blazing 06 An Ode to Backwater Politics *** After saving the life of the long-frozen PRINCE ZALO HAI of the GHYEL system, the crew of the MODESTY BLAZE has found themselves contracted by Prince Zalo’s descendant LORD ARANI HAI, a Ghyel loyalist. The GALACTIC EMPIRE, unsatisfied with Ghyel providing raw materials and manufactured goods to them, has bolstered an Imperialist faction against the Hais’ loyalists with Ghyel as their endgame. Meanwhile, as the Prince is reintroduced to his people, DARTER KEL, QILLIAN RYN and VAX-11/750 await the return of JOHN TRAY’ESSEK and NORA ROMANOVA back into to their fold at AZURITE CITY SPACEPORT… It’s been awhile since I gamemastered six players in a political intrigue session. Political intrigue is hard. More so when you don’t gamemaster the campaign that often. So let’s get down to it! Previously on Modesty Blazing… A Gozanti cruiser modified to be an unarmed commercial […]
Continue readingAge of Rebellion Core Rulebook
After almost a month waiting, the Age of Rebellion Core Rulebook from Fantasy Flight Games finally arrived. I went to the Pudu post office to pick it up right after a meeting elsewhere in Kuala Lumpur. The Edge of the Empire rulebook allowed us to play in fringe campaigns as smugglers, mercenaries, bounty hunters and the like. Age of Rebellion (below right) allows us to play as members of the Rebel Alliance in their struggle to topple the tyrannical Galactic Empire. In Edge of the Empire your character has Obligation that would help or hinder the player in a Fringe campaign in terms of how he acts in it and how he is able to acquire resources. In Age of Rebellion, Obligation is replaced with Duty which helps freedom fighters to define why they are in the fight against Imperial forces. Obligation and Duty are compatible with each other, allowing […]
Continue readingSanthe Security Space Trooper
Once upon a time I designed and drew a Santhe Security Space Trooper just in case any Star Wars RPG game master would like to run a corporate shenanigans campaign involving Santhe Corporation or Santhe Security. Taking a look at it recently I thought that it looked like balls: So I thought I’d whip up a new one.
Continue readingTendaar in Disguise
Last week, Tendaar the Mon Calamari (from the Age of Rebellion Beginner Box) played by Ivan sneaked into Whisper Base wearing an awesome disguise. I wasn’t able to participate in the session but Ivan commissioned an artwork of the pregenerated character in his new disguise. I thought the helmet sells the disguise very well. The original Fantasy Flight Games Tendaar artwork by Mike Nash can be seen here.

So I made a new batch of Star Wars RPG paper minis. These are Rebel officers and troopers just in time for FFG’s Age of Rebellion release. Now your scoundrel characters can interact with the Rebels, or start off as Alliance characters! Click here to download the pdf for printout and assembly! What other Alliance paper minis would you be interested in? SpecForce? Fighter pilots? Echo Base troops?

Modesty Blazing 05 The Prince In Carbonite *** Previously, on Star Wars: Modesty Blazing… After disposing of the twisted IG-series assassin droid that took over the Imperial Biomedical Base on the icy world of Khov and freeing the captured prisoners at Smallberries Skystation on Hypori, the Modesty Blaze returned to the deserted outpost with a contractor to quickly salvage and sell off what they can. The hired gun Tray’Essek the Trandoshan opted to remain at Smallberries Station to ensure the prisoners’ release properly. The Tinhub Brothers Salvage Corporation employees first helped the droid 41-VEX, Zeltron explorer Darter Kel and Trianii bounty hunter Qilian Ryn modify the Blaze by increasing her manoeuvrability and replacing her dorsal cannon with one of two anti-aircraft quadcannons that was protecting the base. Occasionally, tremors shook the walls and floor of the bay as they worked. The crew allowed the Tinhub Brothers team to take apart one Lambda-class shuttle and one […]
Continue reading25 Years Running Star Wars RPG
It was April 1989 when I received West End Game’s Star Wars The Roleplaying Game and the Star Wars Sourcebook, two years after it was officially released. I have been running and playing various systems of the game for twenty-five years to the month. I can’t remember the exact date though. It has been a great quarter century of making friends and having a great fun with them, sitting together, making up our own Star Wars stories and laughing our asses off at the gaming table (or floor). Campaigns I’ve run or played in the past and present: Strikeforce Enteague Voyage of the Magma-3 Team Sabredart Chronicles of the Wild Gundark A Bad Example in the Spacelanes Edged by the Empire Modesty Blazing Here’s to another 25 more years. Note: Also posted on As Seen On Tabletop Tumblr.

Modesty Blazing 04 Droid-like Typing Detected *** The Zeltron pilot Darter Kel had been detained for questioning by the authorities of Smallberries Skystation on Hypori. After all he was the one who dealt with and was up close with the former Captain Razi Sunmote. The errant Captain Sunmote used a droid caller to muster an attack force made of dormant battle droids. The droids had been reactivated from salvage taken from the Hypori. After dealing death and destruction within Section 12 of the skystation, Sunmote and his droid force jettisoned their captured section and jumped into hyperspace on a desperate mission of vengeance. But Darter’s shipmates, the droid 41-VEX, the Trianii bounty hunter Qillian Ryn and Trandoshan hired gun John Tray’Essek, were released on their own recognizance, after a good word from the entrepreneur they rescued, Gir Tashkent. The crew of the Modesty Blaze was waiting for Darter’s questioning to end when a […]

Modesty Blazing 03 Skyfall *** Note: This GOKL campaign follows the Star Wars Edge of the Empire Beginners Game that started with GOKL Escapes Mos Shuuta and continued with GOKL Escapes The Insurmountable Ned. Now that the former Krayt Fang has been renamed Modesty Blaze (after a short stint as Babymetal before retcon renaming) after its major refitting on Rodia, the campaign will now be named “Modesty Blazing.” No Obligation roll just because. Initial Destiny pool rolls resulted in this: Ord Throsol Ord Throsol was a white dwarf system with multiple asteroid fields and thick cometary clouds. The airless planetoid known as Ord Throsol was centre of mining refinery and manufacturing. The Modesty Blaze is berthed alongside the scout vessel, the YV-929 armed freighter Veracity Slush. The Blaze crew had just been commissioned to deliver machine parts to Gir Tashkent of Spacewell Manufacturing Inc. on Smallberries Skystation in the Hypori system. But first, Zeltron pilot Darter Kel, the droid 41-VEX, the Trianii assassin […]
Continue readingPaper Minis: Trandoshans and Gands
Because Trandoshans and Gands are among the playable species listed in Star Wars Edge of the Empire RPG, here are a bunch of Trandoshans and Gands as paper miniatures to be used with it. Well, also with any Star Wars RPG system really. I remember the first time reading Star Wars Galaxy Guide 3: The Empire Strikes Back where they list Bossk’s and Zuckuss’ species name. Sigh. Good times. Good times. Download the pdf from Google Drive, print and assemble here!
Continue readingPaper Minis: Asok’s Fringers Part 2
Here is a second set of paper minis created from Ryan “Asok Yeesrim” Rhodes’s illustrations used with his permission. Check out larger versions of the artwork at his gallery linked from his name. The first batch of Ryan-drawn minis can be found here. Here’s our first non-canonical alien species created by Ryan, named the Trog – which I thought looks a lot like the yet-unnamed stalk-eyed species created and drawn by Mike Vilardi for West End Games or perhaps a Zilkin which appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Also, our first extra wide paper mini by way of the humongous Herglic, which takes twice the width. Click here to download the set from Google Drive.
