SWD6: The Rogue Lieutenant

Strikeforce Enteague Episode 05 The Rogue Lieutenant After their previous adventure to the “illusory” planet of Zarligrenor, the strikeforce decided to take a week off at the Ginuvar system located also in the Enteague Sector. Moonlighting at Ginuvar Ginuvar was a patchwork of territories belonging to galactic and local corporations such as Industrial Automaton, SoroSuub, BlasTech, Neurosaav and Koensayr. Ginuvar’s seas were a broth of toxic compounds and most of her land were a plethora of factory complexes, power generation stations, arcologies and atmosphere scrubbers. The Nexus Point however landed in the planetary capital of Porzohal, a city built in the Green Zone, the only territory on Ginuvar still with a green and natural ecosystem, jungles and grasslands and all in the planet’s equatorial zone. Phoenix Avalon and Jon Dean thought that they should let their bounty hunting team-mates Shanna Toarinar and Ace Browning Crossfire take the lead and get […]

Grenadier Battle Droid

David Schwarz, a Star Wars D6 gamemaster and player, recently tweeted some homebrewed illustrations and stats of a droid he made before a game many, many years ago. This inspired me to draw a quick sketch of this ancient Mandalorian battle droid using GIMP. Here are its stats: Model: Grenadier 2A-1D Type: Ancient Mandalorian battle droid Dexterity: 3D+2 Mini missile ops: 7D+2 (damage: 7D+2) Strength: 6D+2

SWD6: The Test of Truth Part 1

Strikeforce Enteague Episode 04A The Test of Truth Part 1 The fourth session of the campaign was run in 1989 but I drew a comic of it some time in the mid 1990s. Because of the references in the first page, I would say this was pencilled some time after I got Galaxy Guide 9: Fragments From The Rim. (Perhaps in 1994 or 1995.) Besides the first page, which is my attempt to establish that stuff happens all over the Galactic Empire, everything else should have happened more or less according to the game. The script is, obviously, not 100% as spoken by the players. Because the comic has 24 pages, it will be divided between two blog entries with 12 pages each entry to minimise bandwidth strain, because graphics or something. Last time on Strikeforce Enteague, a number of handpicked fringer-type agents were assembled and then transferred to the […]

SWD6: Snow Job

Strikeforce Enteague Episode 03 Snow Job The adventures of the Strikefore Enteague continued as the team relocated to the new Alliance outpost on the moon of Enteague Minor, to be commanded by rebel commando Drew Greyhelm, a native of the Sirsee system in the Enteague sector. In their first official mission, pirate Phoenix Avalon, minor Jedi Ben One-Howel and the latest recruit outlaw Jon Dean, were assigned to scout the Engira system on the light freighter Parabolic Arc. However, hyperdrive mishap caused their ship to crash into the frozen ice fields of the planet Kendell in the Kendell system, still within the sector. Salvaging supplies from the destroyed Parabolic Arc, they then trekked toward a know surveillance post nearby. To speed up their movements, they hunt, corral and capture wild tauntauns (using the beast riding skills for the first time) to ride though the cold. They found the surveillance post […]

SWD6: Rebel Breakout

Strikeforce Enteague Episode 02 Rebel Breakout After the first solo session that introduced Bounty Hunter Shanna Toarinar into the campaign, I ran a session for a larger group of players using the adventure included in West End Games’ Star Wars The Roleplaying Game rule book, entitled Rebel Breakout. I thought it amazing that the group consisted of players from my class as well as players a year and two years younger from different classes from school. Everyone was new at RPGs! A group consisting of Phoenix Avalon the pirate, Ace Browning Crossfire the bounty hunter, Phix an alien student of the Force (retroactively considered to be of Revwien species), Yoat Den the mercenary and Ben One-Howel an minor Jedi rendezvous at Mesa 291, an abandoned lidium mine on Bothan’s Planet, to meet with Tiree, a rebel recruitment agent. However, Tiree was nowhere to be found, but they discovered the droid […]

SWD6: The Privilege of Choice

Time is the Hunter Episode 04: The Privilege of Choice A 1500th post special! Last time on Star Wars Time is the Hunter, Jax Hunt finds himself being forcibly inducted into a bounty hunter posse bent on killing his mark, known only as The Skywalker in the abandoned structures deep beneath Spaceport Tower 214 in the Byblos system. Jax recently learned that The Skywalker was also helping to save young orphans of victims of the tyrannical Galactic Empire. Surrounded by a colourful group of nearly 20 bounty hunters consisting of a variety of species, Jax Hunt faced their prune-faced Dressellian leader who wore a DL-44 blaster at his hip. The leader barked with a smile, “My name is Kozener. And I lead this crew to claim the bounty on The Skywalker. But we will kill this Skywalker and claim 20 times the reward of the one posted through your House […]

Old Sketches for Star Wars Adventures

I would very much like to say that these are some of the oldest illustrations I have drawn to be used for Star Wars RPG (to be precise the Strikeforce Enteague campaign), but they are not. These were drawn in the mid-90s when I was running the “second season” of the campaign, so to speak, after I returned from my studies. Regarding these illustrations: it occurred to me that I could fold a single A4 piece of paper into 8 sections and draw characters, scenes and computer displays that I have planned to appear in the session. Note that not all of these were ultimately used in a session. Click on each thumbnail to view the full image. This was the first session I ran upon coming home. I was lounging around at home when a bunch of youngsters – still in lower secondary school – accosted me at my […]

SWD6: Deeper Undercity

Time is the Hunter Episode 03: Deeper Undercity Last time on Star Wars Time is the Hunter, a gunfight between bounty hunters accidentally activated a trio of Separatist BX commando droids from the Clone Wars. Malfunctioning, they began hunting for targets deep in the bowels of Spaceport Tower 214 on level Brown-212 in the Byblos system. The three rusty droids fanned out with vibroswords drawn, their joints sparked when they moved jerkily. “Kill all Republic clone troopers.” “Roger roger!” Jax Hunt hugged the debris-strewn floor behind the engine of a Y-wing fighter. Beside him, a fellow bounty hunter – the Nimbanel named Tulon Tash – lay injured and semi-conscious after being shot by a rival hunter. Meanwhile the furnace behind both bounty hunters illuminated the chamber of scrap metal and discarded technology with angry colours. Jax considered throwing one of the two grenades he was authorised to carry, but the […]

Irfan's not a galactic bounty hunter. He just plays one in a roleplaying game

SWD6: Stalk the Lower Levels

Time is the Hunter Episode 02: Stalk the Lower Levels Last time on Time is the Hunter, Irfan played bounty hunter Jax Hunt who signed up with the Byblos chapter of the House Benelex Bounty Hunting Guild at Tower 214. Jax Hunt arrived the next day at Abbit Mowba‘s office. The signs of battle from when Jax saved Mr. Mowba from a disgruntled bounty hunter the previous day were still there. But Mowba seemed distracted. “Hi Mr. Mowba,” Jax greeted the Aqualish manager. “Jax,” he stuttered. “I… There seems to be a problem.” “What is it?” “There is a new mark. The bounty is right here on Byblos. In Byblos Spaceport Tower 214 itself. Way down dozens of levels in Brown-212. It’s a difficult mark. I sent three bounty hunters after the mark. They should have returned yesterday evening.” “I’ll take the bounty,” Jax exclaimed. “I usually do not send […]

SWD6: Point of Entry

Time is the Hunter Episode 01: Point of Entry I figured it was time to return to the source from whence my interest of simulationist/narrativist tabletop games originated: Star Wars The Roleplaying Game once published by West End Games and run using the D6 system. It was the first RPG that I ran for Irfan once upon a time and we have never played it since. Irfan plays Jax Hunt, a young human bounty hunter who is on his way to get his House Benelex Bounty Hunters’ Guild membership card from an agent/broker in the Byblos system. Jax wears a flak jacket body armour, a Relby-k23 on his hip and a modified helmet to protect his head. After some decades living alone and scrounging in the streets, bottom feeding, Jax had decided to pursue a career as a bounty hunter. Perhaps someday he would even be able to catch the […]

Captain Ithano

My second Star Wars The Force Awakens fan art is Captain Ithano a.k.a. the Crimson Corsair. He holds in his arm a guidebook for becoming a pirate or a privateer. (A letter of marque is required for the latter choice.) Here’s a close up of the book he’s carrying which I painted from scratch using a photo of the actual book cover.

Those Stories About What Happened…

I might have overdone it with the “Those Stories About What Happened” meme adapted from the latest Star Wars The Force Awakens trailer, pertaining to West End Games’ Star Wars The Roleplaying Game material. It probably what Han would tell these kids about the Galactic Civil War shenanigans as played by Star Wars D6 RPG players. First, here is a general flavour of memories of role-playing games as a general, not just limited to Star Wars. Then, there was that one time Sila stole Zardra’s stun cloak during Tatooine Manhunt when she and Puggles Trodd launched an attack on her party when they were asleep. Disclaimer! I’ve never actually played Starfall: Not to mention the exploits of the Black Curs team. And finally, from Galaxy Guide 9: Fragments From The Rim, a gag written by a tabloid-esque news outlet in the Galaxywide Newsnet chapter of the book: Addendum (27/10/2015): Don’t […]

Rogue One Strikeforce Enteague

Strikeforce Enteague The Movie?

Once upon a time, Shanna Toarinar the bounty hunter stole a captured A-Wing Fighter from the Empire. Soon after, she was recruited to be the first member of the Strikeforce Enteague. Thus begins the Star Wars RPG campaign – using West End Games’s D6 system – that lasted for 10 years in real time as well as game time. Today Lucasfilm released a cast photo of their new Star Wars film: Strikeforce Enteague the Movie*. With Felicity Jones as Shanna Toarinar, Diego Luna as Ace Browning Crossfire and Donnie Yen as Ben-One-Howel. Download the Worlds of the Enteague Sector D6 pdf supplement that I made here! * Sigh. I wish. Sigh. But seriously, doesn’t the Rogue One cast photo looks like someone’s Star Wars D6 (or an Age of Rebellion) rebel commando party? Sigh**. **Siiigh!!! (Just in case this needs to be said: Yes, that is a promotional photo from […]

Mos Eisley Shoot-Out

Peter Schweighofer, who was a writer and editor at West End Games back in the ’90s and the editor-in-chief of their Star Wars Adventure Journal periodical, sent a couple of rare gaming memorabilia to me which I received earlier this month. The first was the Mos Eisley Shoot-Out miniature game. The game is a simple boardgame that came with a paper foldout grid map of the streets of Mos Eisley and cutout miniatures of characters you could play in the environment. The rules were a simplified version of West End Games’ Star Wars The Roleplaying Game combat rules. It was also marketing material that cleverly generates excitement for the RPG itself. I don’t think I’ll be clipping out the paper figures out of the document. And not just because I have other paper minis that I could use for the purpose. I’m uncertain, but the map looks to be a […]

Wandrella – With Stats!

From the first ever Star Wars original novel, Splinter of the Mind’s Eye by Alan Dean Foster, is the giant worm known as wandrella. It was visually defined by Chris Sprouse in the Dark Horse Comic adaptation mini-series. There is a link to the D6 stats below, and comparable (more or less) FFG stats are displayed beneath it. Why would you not want your player characters face a giant slimy albino worm that could burst out of the ground or a dark, dank cave during their adventures?
