TTRPGs at Kota Kayang Museum Soon?

Muzium Kota Kayang, located not far away from Kuala Perlis, is a museum that is part of the Department of Museums Malaysia. I have posted about weapons at the museum before.

Today, I had a meeting with its director to propose tabletop role-playing game on behalf of UniMAP as a university corporate responsibility programme. I brought the Cortex Prime, Azamar and TimeWatch rulesbooks as dead tree samples.

The proposal would be for me to run a game session at the museum premises to visitors. Preferably, I would be using material from the museum itself to run a historical setting for players. The director even says perhaps a horror scenario might be acceptable as well. Perhaps a seafaring adventure based in historical Kuala Perlis.

Alternate proposals I presented would be a game session for the museum staff for team-building exercise.

Finally I presented to her some historical sourcebooks (of the GURPS kind – GURPS Egypt, GURPS Japan) to show the kind of information needed in RPG sourcebooks for player to be able to play as characters in Perlis in the 1700s or the 1800s. Perhaps UniMAP and the museum could collaborate to write such a sourcebook.

The madam director appears to be fascinated by the proposals and will be bringing it up as official activities for their weekend programmes. Sadly, the earliest they could fit us in would be next year.

No worries. Patience and persistance are virtues. And should be character stats.
