Happy Birthday to Little Adik

Happy birthday, Little Adik who is now four solar years old. He is quite the loquacious dude on Google Hangouts as the image to the right reveals. I can’t believe he’s talking to me using text on the internet these days. Maybe someday he’ll be a writer, if he writes as well as his sister draws! May he continue to communicate honourably and wisely throughout he future. Verbally, visually or meta-textually.

Yet Another Cousin Arrives

After our inaugural viewing of Star Wars The Force Awakens in Alor Setar, Cikma – who was very far along her pregnancy – was admitted to hospital for blood pressure that went through the roof. So first thing the next morning Ain and Irfan travelled to KL by bus to aid Cikma. But before their bus cruised into the city, young Rania Sumayyah was decantered into this world. Both mother and infant were healthy upon her arrival. Welcome to this universe, Baby Rania! Of course, Irfan is happy because he gets to meet with his cousins!

Paper Minis: First Order Stormtroopers

I’m sure someone will be wanting to run Star Wars RPG campaign set in The Force Awakens era, so here are the first of many paper miniatures to help you on your tabletop. Four of them carry the Sonn-Blas F-11D blaster rifle, another four the Sonn-Blas SE-44D blaster pistol and the final four are the wielders of the Z6 riot control baton, which is different from the Z-6 rotary blaster. Or you could just use them to represent any mook in any RPG, they’re only made of paper and it is after all the theatre of the mind. Click here to download the PDF from Google Drive for printing and assembling!

Star Wars The Force Awakens Review

We finally saw Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens the evening of the 18th, a day after general release. I discovered that trying to write a review about it was impossible for me. I will get to that soon, but what about the movie itself? It was to me an excellent Star Wars story with new characters interacting with the old, swashbuckling their way through space to save lives. I suppose the story beats did get too close for comfort to the original trilogy, but with characters that were amazingly developed and actors who had great chemistry with each other. It was a fun movie. Although there were some things that I did not like about it (such as how it was possible to see the First Order’s beam from a planet too far away), these things are trivial compared to the fun experienced from watching it. I loved […]

Troubleshooters Unit Patch

Recently I completed a commission for a unit patch for a Rebel Alliance group known as the Troubleshooters for Seamus Conneely’s Star Wars RPG campaign. Unit patches are fun. I need to do more unit patches or nose art. There must a truckload of Star Wars RPG campaigns that require them for their group or for their ships.

A Second Move

Last December we moved 500 hundred kilometres to new house. This week a year later, we moved again but this time it was only about 2 klicks down the road. It was gratifying that we did not need to cross state lines for the move. Thanks to some friends, before I went to my course in Kuala Lumpur we secured a house at a residential estate right beside Irfan’s school. We had scoped this area out for months to no avail, until now. Our previous house was nice and comfortable, and the landlord was a great person. We were surrounded by greens there, but I still hoped for a house where Irfan could actually walk to school. Our former landlord helped with the move by introducing us to some movers. Most of my stuff are still in moving boxes for over a year because we had to place to unpack […]
