Adik is two and a half! 30 months old! Happy half birthday, little boy!

As stated in Yaya’s 71 month entry, June was a very quiet month where I just worked to finish out my contract. So we didn’t have many adventures outside the house. Adik however is just growing fast. He sight reads so many words now. He can at least approximate the words based on letter sounds but he doesn’t seem to have to work at it. It seems to come naturally to him to see the letters, make sense of it and just read the word. He seems to have stopped asking how to spell words and just going straight to reading them. He just keeps surprising us with all this reading. He recognizes and reads words that seem to not be part of a normal children’s book.
Speech status: Adik speaks a lot. It is sometimes difficult to understand his run-on sentences which require the proper context. But he sure likes to talk to us and tell us things, and there is a lot of singing going on. He is still very into drumming, making drums out of pillows (drum nest) or other containers, using any stick-like object to be his drumsticks, or using his hands for bongos, etc.
He gets along very well with his sister although things do devolve into the usual sibling quarrels at times. He has learned to defend himself by hitting back which is a bad thing and now he wants to go on the offensive of hitting Yaya first. So they both have to just stop hitting altogether. As I tell Yaya, I don’t hit you, so you shouldn’t hit anybody else. But I can see this will be an uphill battle. They do enjoy playing together and doing things together, and he is always running after Yaya to join in her games and activities. Even if poor Yaya needs some “self” time, he won’t leave her alone. Ah, the joys of being the younger sibling!
