I’m currently running a new LiveCD within which resides the Linux operating system called NimbleX, and I’m writing this article with the Konqueror browser nestled deep within the LiveCD. The reason why this article is entitled “Irfan’s NimbleX” is because upon the startup of the OS, a voice says, “Welcome to Irfan’s NimbleX” in the voice of famed Star Trek and The Simpsons guest actor Stephen Hawking.
The special thing about NimbleX is that the ISO file you download to burn into a CD is customisable! You get to decide what applications are included, how the default wallpaper looks like (and upload your own), the startup and shutdown sound and other neat stuff. This is how part of the custom ISO generator page looks like:

I haven’t fiddled around with xorg to get the screen to conform to 1200 by 800 widescreen, obviously.
The following is the default wallpaper on the desktop. It’s uploaded and integrated into the LiveCD itself and not reconfigured after the LiveCD comes online:
Here’s what the Konqueror browser looks like. I did begin to write this article on Konqueror, but I couldn’t get javascript to work right, so I saved it and headed back to Firefox to resume writing. If you’re reading this sentence then I got the entire article done while the LiveCD is running.
Here’s MPlayer running a recent episode of The Middleman. If you think that the subtitle is weird, you have to realise that they move on to meet a martial arts master named Sensei Ping who wears a Lucha Libre mask, who then is kidnapped by a band of thugs in Lucha Libre masks, and taken to the Dread Pyramid of Itzilichlitlichlitzl in Central America to settle a blood feud. No, I’m not making it up.
Here’s JuK playing my Alice Cooper The Last Temptation CD mp3 rips. I think Sila bought the Marvel comics based on the album, written by Neil Gaiman and drawn by Michael Zulli.
And here’s Akregator reading the RSS feed of Hishgraphics weblog.
Obviously, this weblog requires the “Linux” category.
phew… so my browser is not broken… i was wondering what happened when i swing by today and found myself looking at subtly different blog…
