Azamar – Template Art Part One

Over the last couple of weeks I was working on and are now finished with the character template artwork for Wicked North Games’ Azamar RPG. The playable races of Azamar are numerous: Human, Urbane, Tre’uoall, Wyvine, Immyr, Enfri and Shrave. Here are four playable character templates, right here in this post:

Darth Adama

Darth Bill Adama?

A weird moment for Admiral William Adama of the Battlestar Galactica (complete with ominous shadow outline) when he suddenly spouts lines from The Empire Strikes Back at his son Lee. What does he say, and how does Lee reply? Click here to find out and to view a larger version of the artwork.

Xujof

Azamar Deities Part Two

More powerful beings – reality-changing and inter-dimensional – that has made their mark on the world of Azamar. Mo is the deity of laughter, change, and trickery, and manifests in the form of a jester with a dazzling outfit of ever-changing colours – though he rarely ever manifests. Nooks and Crannies are factions of a powerful type of beings from a world which was devastated by a war between the factions. They have travelled to Azamar using their magicks and set themselves as deities, sowing chaos and demanding sacrifices and tributes from their followers. The war between Nooks and Crannies have now come to Azamar. Xujof is a deity also known as the grim, a deity of death, life, and the delicate balance between them, often referred to as the equilibrium. Xujof normally manifests as an elderly Human, typically wearing contemporary apparel, mingling quietly within the various societies of Azamar.

Azamar Deities Part One

The Ash Lord, also known as the Eater of Souls, sends dark beings who manifest as Humans, who make deals to grant the wishes of others, who soon bargain to relinquish their souls in trade for these deals. Shilutozenon is the deity of nature and of the natural order and make attempts to repair and restore the natural order of Azamar. Sychorax is the deity of beauty, compassion, desire, and persuasion which manifests typically as a blazing ball of light. Xaraxamarath is the deity of creation and destruction, often worshipped by a small faction of wizards known as Conjurers, who devote themselves to understanding the magic of creation and destruction within Azamar.

Azamar Sea View

Azamar – A View of the Sea

Here’s a damage seagoing vessel – anchored off an Azamar coast – undergoing repairs at dawn. What happened to it? What was it carrying? Who or what shot at it? Were there survivors? What repercussions would there be for characters that relied on this ship for transport or defence? What bearing did this event have on the legacy of the Fracturing in Azamar? Give the Azamar fantasy roleplaying game a try when it’s released later this year, and create your own storylines with your friends as you run the game! This interior artwork was created for Wicked North Games with a black and white printing in mind. The colours are an afterthought for this blog.

Azamar Melee WIP04

Azamar – Melee Skirmish

Here’s a quarter page interior illustration for Wicked North Games of a Tre’uoall ranger versus an Orc warrior fighting on a hill slope and drawing blood… which should be in black and white in the final Azamar RPG core rule book. Additionally, I will also show you step-by-step how I made the dish above. First, heat some cooking in the pot. Add some chopped up onions into the oil and allow it to heat. Then add some chopped-up bell peppers cut into the pot. Chop up some eggplants and add them into the pot. Stir so the eggplants are covered with oil and make sure they do not burn up. When the eggplants have softened, add some chopped-up zucchini into the pot. Chop some garlic, tomatoes and minced thyme and add them to the pot. Stir evenly for 2 minutes. Reduce the heat and cover the pot. Allow it to […]

Kurt Wagner

Classic Kurt

Here’s a quick sketch of Kurt, a former pupil of Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, in his classic costume, and draped in shadows as usual. I believe the red in his costume is a manifestation of his subconscious desire to stand out among the shadows, even as a youngster mobs set out to burn him as a demon.

Mangog!

Mangog!

This is Mangog. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Mangog is a classic Thor villain and the sum of the hatred of a billion billion dead beings. Also, I love his name: MANGOG! Click here to view or download a larger image of Mangog!

Azamar Out Shopping

Here’s a piece on shopping for fruits and vegetables at a marketplace in Azamar. Here’s a hint: don’t drop or jostle the Quepid root. Otherwise vegetables are good for you. Eat more vegetables. Click on the partial thumb on the right to view the full image! Azamar will be published by Wicked North Games in 2011. Click here for its current Kickstarter page.

Azamar Enfri Airship

Azamar Miscellanea

With the release of the Azamar RPG core rulebook so close, I was still assigned several more art orders for the interior of the book. As before, although they’re in colour here, the final product will have black and white interior pages. Here are a pair of magic users, using magical energies augmented by their artifacts to fight it out. The Enfri’s colossal cetacean-shaped dirigibles are a sight to behold. I hope there will be a sourcebook – or at least, an article in D6 Magazine –  that will flesh out this vehicle more. The Azamar RPG will be published by Wicked North Games in 2011. D6 Magazine - Abyssian Hunter

D6 Magazine Released

Remember the cover I did a couple of posts ago? After months of work, finally the debut issue of D6 Magazine has finally been released into the wild. Apart from the aforementioned cover, I also helped the writers produce three interior artwork for it. For the article “Crack of the Whip” by Michael Fraley, here’s a whip-wielding woman in old-timey flightsuit and helmet… but with a one cyborg leg! How many ways can one use a whip using D6 rules? Read the article to find out. I was commissioned by J. Elliot Streeter for his Cinema6 scenario “Asphyxia”, where a spaceborne predator stalks the corridors of a sleeper ship. The following is the beast which is named Abyssian Hunter. Here’s the unnamed sleeper ship with many cryogenic modules arrayed like stacks of containers. Will you, as the players, survive the scenario? Pickup a bunch of six-sided dice and have fun […]

Moleskine

Aww.. It’s NOT Made of Mole Skin

I’ve always bought sketchbooks they sell around here, but they’re difficult to bring about and open for a quick sketch. Also, they don’t have a lot of pages to draw. Last week, the awesome fellows over at GOKL got me an outstanding present for my birthday: this Moleskine sketchbook for impromptu sketching which Ivan passed to me when this event was transpiring. It looked so nice and pristine that I put off drawing in it to avoid sullying it with my scratchings, but I finally drew Clark a few nights ago. Thanks for the present, guys.

Dex-Starr vs Streaky

Fearless Felines in Fantastic Fight

Streaky the Supercat was Supergirl’s pet cat who was exposed to x-kryptonite and endowed Kryptonian powers. Together with Krypto, Beppo the Supermonkey, Comet the Superhorse and Proty, Chameleon Boy’s pet, all the way from the 30th century – they form the Legion of Super-Pets! They fight crime back in the Silver Age of Comics! DexStarr is the Red Lantern of space sector 2814 (our sector). He is also a cat with a lot of rage. He wears the Red Lantern ring on his tail as he looks for ways to unleash his anger (as well as some blood-soaked bodily fluids) at whatever comes his way. Yay, kitty! ARGH! Why hasn’t there been a one-shot comic where a modern age Streaky fights DexStarr is beyond me. Geoff Johns, are you listening? Next up: Beppo the Supermonkey versus Gorilla Grodd and the Ultra-Humanite… (maybe… if I don’t get distracted by shiny things… […]
