Marvel’s Civil War in 30 Seconds

[[image:nextwave11.jpg:Warren Ellis you sly dog you….:left:0]]Civil War was announced as the Marvel Comics crossover event for 2006-2007. Written by Mark Millar and pencilled by Steve McNiven, whose art I admired since his Sentry story arc on the New Avengers and two issues of Ultimate Secret it was going to be a total revamp of how super-powered heroes will be regarded by the government and the general public in Marvel’s Earth-616. Superhero Registration Act and whatnot. I thought I wouldn’t read too much into it and get the book once it’s been collected into a trade paperback. However, issue #7 was released and it’s difficult not to hear the online rantings of almost everyone if you’re a comic book fan. Anyway if you’re not physically, psychologically or radiologically allergic to spoilers (SPOILERS! Once again in caps for your attention) check out this Civil War in 30 Seconds post from Chris’s Invincible […]

Kneel Before Bill Cosby

So there I was watching Superman 2 (the theatrical Richard Lester version, not the brand new DVD release of Richard Donner’s version) and I just realised that when the good General said the iconic line, “Kneel before Zod!!!” he really meant kneel before Bill Cosby, which is pretty cool.[[image:zodcosby.jpg:Shenanigans in Perry’s office:center:0]]

A Matter of Taste

Stuck in the Jam: A Matter of Taste

Whee! A webcomic! Based on a true story, even. Which happened earlier today. Director’s Commentary mode on (since most of the text is in Malay): Normanis isn’t a standard Malay-Muslim name. I’m guessing it’s an allusion to names beginning with “Nor” (or “Nur“) which is Arabic for “light”. Suddenly there’s a Malay word there “manis” which means “Sweet”. Therefore Normanis is literally Sweet Light. Of course, I’m assuming it’s a female name since I’ve never heard it before. To square off the quip, “tawar” for the conjectural husband and “pahit” for the eventual daughter respectively means “tasteless” and “bitter”. I have nothing against your name Normanis, whoever you are. But thanks for being the subject of a side-splitting off-the-cuff joke while we were stuck in a traffic jam which will no doubt be lost on readers of this entry, and I have only one excuse for all of you: “You […]

sudo apt-get install linux joke

Before the Deepavali-Aidilfitri vacation I had zero experience working with a Linux machine. Some time fiddling about with Ubuntu in Pasir Mas changed that. (Not by much, but some.) I wouldn’t have understood this joke before three weeks ago, so don’t feel bad if you don’t get it. When I saw this one on RPG.net it really cracked me up. I have no clue who made this or where it originated, though. Updated: The webcomic is xkcd.

A Tag! A Meme! A Meme Tag!

Diamond Lil tagged us with a meme about blogging it would so we have to oblige some answers to a set of questions. 1. Are you happy/satisfied with your blog, with its content and look? Does your family know about your blog? I am somewhat happy with my blog, but not really satisfied. I tried getting it to make me coffee at nights but it just sits there immobile in my computer. I might not be talking to it correctly. Yes, our family knows about the blog. We tried to ensure all of our relatives know about and read it regularly, even the ones without any computer or internet connection. Unfortunately none of them liked me kidnapping some of them in the middle of the night for me to perform surgery to implant neural Wi-Fi datacommunication transceivers in their brain, so they could browse the blog whenever they’re in satellite […]

Lando Pulls a Marvin Gaye

I rarely post YouTube links here. But this one is somewhat hilarious I just had to give it its own entry for posterity’s sake. [[image:lando.jpg:Let’s Get It On:center:0]]This is a conjectural scene that took place in the hangar bay of the Home One before the Battle of Endor in Return of the Jedi. Click here to view it.

Not Really The Dark Side, But Still Evil

Okay, I’m just gonna post this… because I can. [[image:hellovader.jpg:This means evil death for us all, I expect.:center:0]] As found at the RPG.net forums. Apparently, it’s a photoshop, but it’s still worth a chuckle or two. But if your sanity is still up for another one, I have to say [[popup:shoppingvader.jpg:this one:End times are near:left:1]] is definitely NOT a photoshop.

Kramer vs Kramer

Star Wars: Kramer vs Kramer

For Round Three of the SWAG Member Theme Art Contest (Link dead), everyone was given the theme of It’s A Trap!… except me who has the task of coming up with Star Wars: Kramer vs Kramer, no thanks to my big mouth the previous month. So, here it is without further ado, Star Wars: Kramer vs Kramer – The Battle for Cosmo. Click on the thumbnail to view a larger image (and use the up / down arrow keys to scroll up and down the pop-up if your screen resolution is crappy like mine at 800 x 600), or check out the larger version of the digital painting at deviantArt.

New Blockquote CSS

I noticed that like the old comments style, the blockquote style for this website is just a bunch of indented paragraphs. So, to ensure the blockquotes are easily seen, I’ve added a bunch of lines to the css file, causing anything in blockquotes to resemble: Click here to watch the Robot Chicken representation of how Palpatine reacted to Vader after the first Death Star blew up. Hilarious. A quote from my recent post from this thread in the Holonet Forums.

Aragorn Jenkins

Aragorn of Pals For Life Guild

It’s unknown to me who made this image, but every time I look at it I have to at least stifle a laugh… because the way Aragorn rushes into combat almost without warning is nearly similar to how that fateful battle began at Blackrock Spire. Unfortunately not everyone will get the joke. Just you MMORPG jocks. Meanwhile, everyone else please read this Wikipedia page for a history of the internet meme.

South Park Portrait

Brem posted an entry which reminded me of something I posted in the ACS Sitiawan Forums last March. A Flash South Park portrait generator! Appears to be Version 2.0 now. You can access the page from Brem’s link as the link in the ACS Forums now also points to the new location. Check out more pictures at Brem’s page and in the ACS thread. Here’s me in March: [[image:sphisham.gif:I broke the dam.:center:0]]

DO NOT WANT!

As reported earlier, screen captures of an atrociously subtitled Revenge of the Sith bootleg was posted at winterson.com. It appears that the image of Vader screaming “Nooooooo!” in despair over the news of Padmé’s death, which was subtitled “Do not want” (see image below), has taken a life of its own as an internet meme. [[image:donotwant1.jpg:Do Not Want!!!!!:center:0]] For example, if you’re in certain forums or blog comment on the net and you are told of a news that, to use a common vernacular, sucks, you could say “DO NOT WANT!!!!” and they’ll understand you as easily as you would say something like “All your base are belongs to us” or “O RLY?!?”. In light of that, here are some other Do Not Wants that you can use in conversations in the internet. As you can see, the phrase “Like father like son” comes into play a lot here. [[image:donotwant2.jpg:ANH […]

Superman: A Dick and Loving It

When you think of Superman, the first thing that comes to you mind is a virtuous, heroic, superbeing who strives to save innocent lives from disaster, and defeat the devious plots of super villians and invading aliens. But Superdickery.com has a collection of images from early Superman comics (some not so early) of Superman being a dick. Not just an annoying dick, but a real self-centered and dangerous asshole, even to his closest friends. And not once or twice, but repeatedly. For instance, can you imagine Lois Lane actually finally marrying him in the 90s after putting her through things like this dozens of times? [[image:superdickery1.jpg:Superdickery1:center:0]] There must be an easier way of not wanting to get married. Which, of course, would lead Lois to fabricate mind-bogglingly bizzare schemes in order to get Superman to notice her as shown thusly: [[image:superdickery2.jpg:Superdickery2:center:0]] For God’s sake… deal with the devil??!? Haven’t she […]
