Fantastic Four: Meme Redux

Another meme arrives and since my fellow bloggenstein who happens to also be my sister has tagged me… Wait, are there any rules about tagging your fellow blogmate based in the same weblogsite? No matter. I shall give this meme a whatfor like it’s never been given a whatfor before. A blog whatfor! A blorgthwthfor! Four Jobs I’ve Had In My Life Piano Man – Quite a fun job. There was an old man sitting next to me making love to his tonic and gin, John at the bar, Paul the real estate novelist, Davy who’s still in the Navy, and not to mention the waitress and the businessman sharing a drink they call loneliness. The manager gives me a smile cause he knows they all come to see me to forget about life for a while. Starman – As A starman, what I did was I waited in the […]

My Debut as a G.I. Joe

Shane, who’s made some great dioramas at Joe Dios, has unveiled his latest custom G.I. Joe figure, a jungle trooper codenamed Monsoon. I’d like to add to Monsoon’s background: He’s carried a lot of emotional baggage on his shoulders, ever since May 1999 where he faked sick leave to catch the première of Star Wars Episode 1 The Phantom Menace in the theatres. During the screening, his squad was called for a simple milk run, a reconnaissance mission to the jungles of Papua New Guinea to investigate the reports of a new Cobra bioweapons lab. There was an ambush and everyone was killed in action, except Monsoon who was watching Star Wars. Now a member of the Last Chance Squad (broken link) of the G.I. Joes, Monsoon has a strangely adverse psychological reaction whenever Star Wars is mentioned. Click on the link (broken link) to check out Monsoon at Joe […]

5 Favourite Movies – A Meme

Tagged by the Hijack Queen with her metahuman abilities to hijack any sort of forum thread – quite an impressive feat if I might add – I will attempt to oblige her with my top favourite movies of all time as of today. The “as of today” statement is a proviso, cause the movies can sort themselves differently as time goes by. If this was 20 years ago, there would probably be two hundred science fiction and fantasy movies crammed into just the five spots. Since this is the here and now I will cut it down to one movie per spot, and diversify genres somewhat. Hey, you know what? Let’s put in a mini-review for each just for the hell of it. 5. Trainspotting (Danny Boyle) – 1996 [[image:5movies03.jpg:The worst toilet in Scotland:left:0]]Trainspotting is the movie by Danny Boyle that shot himself into the mainstream and Ewan McGregor into […]

I'm sure this has something to do with COBRA Commander's nasal twang

Shanes Spectacularly Shows Off His Joes

My pal Shane, seen here as a COBRA Crimson Guard commander, has the best collection of G.I. Joes I’ve ever seen. Now it’s not just the quantity, but his Joe figures is used thoroughly in the photos Shane took and posted at his JoesDios page where he goes by the monicker, LordRaven. There are quite a number of excellently composed photos in his gallery. Check it out here. (Update: Dead link) The photos range from the dramatic, such as this one of pinned down Alley Vipers… … to the hilarious.

5 Things You Didn’t Know About Me – A Meme

Brem has tagged me! So I guess to allow this meme to survive and spread out to masses I have to list out the 5 things that I believe the lot of you do not know about me. So what are five things I think I should tell you people about? 1. My best friend Teik Sing and I once created a new alphabet based on Futhark runes – though at the time we didn’t know it was called Futhark. When we were studying with thousands of miles between us, we sent snail mails to each other written entirely in the runes. 2. Once upon a time you could chase me around the house with a balloon and I would run as if my life depended on it. Apparently there’s a name for it: globophobia. 3. There is an opaque plastic box in a drawer in my old room at […]

A Tag! A Meme! A Meme Tag!

Diamond Lil tagged us with a meme about blogging it would so we have to oblige some answers to a set of questions. 1. Are you happy/satisfied with your blog, with its content and look? Does your family know about your blog? I am somewhat happy with my blog, but not really satisfied. I tried getting it to make me coffee at nights but it just sits there immobile in my computer. I might not be talking to it correctly. Yes, our family knows about the blog. We tried to ensure all of our relatives know about and read it regularly, even the ones without any computer or internet connection. Unfortunately none of them liked me kidnapping some of them in the middle of the night for me to perform surgery to implant neural Wi-Fi datacommunication transceivers in their brain, so they could browse the blog whenever they’re in satellite […]

South Park Portrait

Brem posted an entry which reminded me of something I posted in the ACS Sitiawan Forums last March. A Flash South Park portrait generator! Appears to be Version 2.0 now. You can access the page from Brem’s link as the link in the ACS Forums now also points to the new location. Check out more pictures at Brem’s page and in the ACS thread. Here’s me in March: [[image:sphisham.gif:I broke the dam.:center:0]]

Shane as a Crimson Guard

COBRA’s Crimson Guard

Here is another painting and deviantArt upload I made in the last couple of days. COBRA’s elite Crimson Guard platoon with its leader unmasked, who is based on my pal Shane Welin, companion of Duckie, who’s in a G.I. Joe mood this month. Click on the link under the image below to view its deviantArt page.

Harloth Graf

Harloth Graf, Naboo Guard

Here’s a portrait of Harloth Graf the Naboo Guard in the Star Wars RPG Sabredart campaign I posted earlier, using Photoshop to pencil and paint the piece. I wish I had a better photo reference of player Stu Cunningham for it, though. Close enough, Stu? Or more work needed? 😉 Click on the image below to expand:

The Meme Tagged thingamabob…

Since Lilian tagged Hisham and I for the meme thing and Hisham actually did his, here’s my meme. Quick story about “Meme”, when I first saw it, I thought “grandmother?”. My friend and colleague Jo’s granddaughter calls her “Meme” (pronounced meh-may). But anyway – my contribution: Where I was 10 years ago:1995 – i was starting my Sophomore year at HU, and trying hard to gain back the 45 lbs I’d lost in the previous school year. I was getting used to living in upperclassmen housing and loving the old ivy-covered halls. My classes were quite sucky as it was the year I finished ALL (and i mean ALL) of my pre-requisite classes, so it was quite miserable. Thank God for my roomies and Music A. Where I was 5 years ago:2 years into being in the workforce, I switched companies and got a nice raise and much better working […]

Passing On A Meme (or Yikes! I’ve Been Tagged!!)

Thanks to Lilian over at iFantabulous, I’ve been tagged. So here’s I am letting the meme pass through me, allowing the idea to propagate and converting it into the text on this page that you’re reading. So here goes: Where I was 10 years ago Working in Terengganu. 5 days on, 5 days off. On my days off I saw movie masterpieces (yeah, right!) such as Mortal Kombat and Power Rangers the Movie. Nowadays I’m more picky about the quality of the movies I watch. For example, earlier this year I saw Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Zing! Where I was 5 years ago Getting married to the greatest wife ever. Where I was 1 year ago I stopped working for a book publisher and went freelancing. It was a chilling thought then. And it still is a chilling thought now. Where I was yesterday Giving my “European Renaissance” powerpoint presentation in […]

The Unspeakable Cat

Hastur (the Unspeakable One from the depths of the Cthulhu-mythos pantheon of ancient and powerful gods bent on the destruction of the world and mass insanity of its inhabitants) has not only manifested itself as a cat… it has also started blogging. Here’s an excerpt: [[image:hastur.jpg:The Unspeakable Cat:left:0]] In addition to my slaves and Merlin, there is also a young child living here. I don’t care what his name is. I know that the only reason my slaves continue to care for him is so that they may offer him to me as a humble sacrifice. I await the day of this offering with much relish, for the boy appears quite tender. Does he not? A final observation of note is that Hastur seems to be looking much more agreeable and pleasant to the eye than it was when it was an all destroying amorphous blob of flesh. Click here […]

What Happened on Independence Day 2005?

What happened was that a bunch of my old classmates and I (with some of our family) met at 1 Utama mall in Bandar Utama. We then proceeded to the open air Rainforest location of the new wing of 1 Utama, cobbled together 4 of the little round tables (and 1 square table) Burger King had scattered in their area and ordered some Burger King value meals for lunch, except for Teik Sing who had a heavy brunch, yo. Here follows a photographic account of the events that transpired today. I should have taken more pictures, but I was chasing Irfan all over the play area and out of the drizzle. Laksh’s daughter Priya and Irfan getting their Uncle Teik Sing to play Hot Wheels with them, while Chiew Kian looks on amused. Laksh, Yu Hoe, Wendy & Ah Bau. In the foreground is Chiew Kian’s cute daughter. Group photo […]

Duckie, on RPG Books

Duckie Approves of RPGs!

Duckie, the feline roommate of my good friend Shane Welin of Nova Scotia, likes RPG books very much. Eberron, a stack of D&D 3.5 books, Forgotten Realms, d20 Modern, and even some WOTC and WEG Star Wars books. Hisham: What does Duckie think of your RPG books? Shane: She likes em I guess, she sleeps on em all the time. Hisham: She ever join you gaming? Shane: We usually game elsewhere, but the few times we did game here she was all about watching and chasing after dice. Well, maybe she doesn’t read them, but she sure loves to sit on them. And everyone knows cats only sit on books that has high writing and production qualities. So, here’s to you Duckie! May all your d20 dice chases end up as Critical Hits.
